About PathMates

PathMates is a shared trip planner for small groups: itinerary, map, and notes in one private workspace instead of scattered across chat threads.

Why it exists

Planning a trip with friends usually happens in a group chat. Links get posted and buried. Someone keeps a private note nobody else can see. Three days before leaving, one person rebuilds the whole plan from scratch by scrolling back through months of messages. The chat was never meant to hold a plan, so it does not.

PathMates replaces that with a single shared workspace. Stops, notes, and the route live in one place and stay in sync for everyone on the trip. There is one plan, and everyone is looking at the same one.

What it does today

You create a trip, add stops, and see them on a map alongside the itinerary. You invite the people coming with you, and they can edit the same plan. Notes attach to the trip rather than getting lost in a thread. Optional AI drafting produces a first-pass itinerary from your destination, dates, and travel style, which you then edit freely. AI output is a starting point, never a finished plan.

How it is run

PathMates is an independent, self-funded project, not a venture-backed company or a travel agency. It is an early-stage product in active development, currently free to use with no credit card required. We are not a tour operator and we do not sell or organise travel packages.

Trips are private by default. There is no anonymous access: all content requires an account, and trips are visible only to the people you invite. The source code is developed in the open at github.com/massimosiani/pathmates.
